As Lead Member for hashtag#biodiversity at City of London Corporation I was delighted to attend the Biodiversity Action Plan Partnership board. Comprised of great collaborators such as Pollinating London Together Imperial College London The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple hashtag#FriendsofCityGardens and the City’s own departments.
The latest review shows that it has achieved 47% of the outcomes to date with a good plan to achieve all by 2026. In particular good to see that the management plan for the The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers Jubilee Garden at Noble Street has been completed ensuring that the necessary conservation and protection of the natural habitats is in place ( see photo).
In 2026 the City will be creating a Local Nature Recovery Plan to sync with the plan for Greater London which is now in progress. This will allow better data collection and cross boundary working. We discussed the new requirements to measure hashtag#BiodiversityNetGain and want to ensure that planning applications framed around BNG will play an important part in the environment and public realm.
